British Columbia Where things are real pretty.

Just before I left for the UK, Aunt Ann and I went a little bit up the island to check out to really beautiful spots.

Cowichan Bay is about a 45 min drive out of Victoria and a favourite spot for Aunt Ann.

Its a nice small little harbour town with a couple of restaurants and shops. Im going to need to find the photo of the of the Frog jug that Aunt Ann and I couldn't take our eyes off of.
Its just a stunning little area.

We Followed Cow Bay up with a light hike to the Kinsol Trestle near Shawinigan lake.

Great little walk, the trestle hasn't been used for years.

On the way back to Victoria we took the slightly longer way and drove around Shawinigan lake, we had to stop to get this lovely shot of the fog on the lake.

I also just want to share the few pictures I have of my surprise leaving party. Kate R and SCB are awesome party planners and balloon whizzes.

ShackFuYu in where things are cooked to Crisp-Fection

Jess, Zac, Kasper and I trekked in to Covent Gardens for chicken wings last week.

Bone Daddie's current pop up Shackfuyu is serving up all things current in Japanese street food.

I had seen The Londoners  post and had to check out the chicken wings. Zac Loves wings and we were so excited to find nice big and saucy wings in the city.

Its Pretty easy to find, check out the website for the address and menu. Shackfuyu

First of all the service was phenomenal ! As a Canadian in the UK I long for great servers and this guy was amazing.

We ordered a whole whack of things between the 4 of us.

I didn't get any photos of the Mac and cheese as I scarfed it down instantly.
It is so cheesy and baked to perfect crisp-fection. Then its toped with Spicy fish roe and oh snap that thing is good. I guess I have to go back and take a picture for you guys.

But have a look at the size of those wings.... they are massive and covered in sauce after also being fried to crips-fection. The sauce is a bit spicy but nothing the average mouth couldn't handle.

The other thing I loved was the iced green tea, it was so refreshing.

Poor Z had to use a knife and fork for his wings due to his injured finger.

While on the subject of fried to tasty goodness the potatoes !
They are fired then covered in a curry sauce and I am in love with them.

I have to say this place is really good for hang over food. Its worth checking out. Its right in the heart of the city so its not out of the way at all. Please go ! if you live outside of London come in to check it out.

After filling up at shackfuyu we headed up to Notting hill for a little walk around. unfortunately this being London it started to rain as soon as we arrived, fortunately this being London there is always a pub near by.
We ducked in to The Sun in Splendour pub

For a couple o pints while we waited for the sun to return to us.
The staff was lovely and chatty and I like that.
They have a super cool back garden.
With True Detective  style art on the walls. Both cool and creepy.
Lets take a min to chat about what we wore.

Throw back to Noni

I have this beautiful bestie who I haven't seen for almost 5 years.
So here is the ultimate throw back Thursday.
Meet Noni

I just want to show you how cool she is :
Last time I saw her was the summer I turned 21 which happened to be my Champagne birthday. That was fun.

We also like to watch Summer Heights High which is an amazingly funny Australian show.  I mean :

This is a regular quote in our chats.

Anyways Throw back to Noni this week cause I miss her dearly. 5 years is a long time to be away from someone so close to you, but at least I now know that no matter the space between us we will always enjoy each others company.

I love you Burton !

Twickenham & Richmond Waterfront

Where I'm living in Richmond is right on the river Thames. The waterfront is lovely. With all the paths around the water you can walk along the water for ages.

Zach and I went across the bridge in to St. Margarets and Twickenham to do some filming for this You Tube Channel Z Bar TV ( Link for his footage here )

A lot of people walk their dogs along here, as the can go off leash.

It was an incredible day when we where out walking.

We walked along the water into Marble Hill  park in St Margarets. Im looking forward to a food festival there in the summer.

After that we took a bus to Twickenham high street for a bit of a walk around before heading to the massive rugby stadium.

On our way there we walked around the Gardens of York House.

These Italian statues where brought to England by a wealthy something who was then charged with fraud, the people who bought the statues after that got them for £600. Try and get a deal like that theses days.

Shake Shack

There is a burger place in Victoria called Bin 4. They have a feature burger every month and Zach and I actually go ever month if not more often.
The burgers are phenomenal ! The buns are to die for and try as I might to have a feature burger I always end up with the same burger. The Bin 24 the Sweet sweet corn and chipotle... here is the description from the website.

Bin 24 – "Sweet Corn & Chipotle"

Rossdown Farms free run chicken breast, sweet corn red pepper & jalapeno salsa, cilantro, roasted jalapeno goat cheese, chipotle aioli, butter lettuce, tomato.
I always swap the chicken for beef but sometimes buffalo or Venison.
Moving to England has been my dream for the last ten years, so I was really ready to leave and start life in LDN, but leaving Bin 4 was flipping hard. I want and need my burger. I have fully having withdrawals. Its weird cause its a burger.
So Jess and I have been traveling deep in to London blogs and food forums to find burgers that might satisfy our cravings.
The Londoner is my fav and has mentioned Shake Shack before and it looked like it might have potential.

They are American and have crossed the pond over to England, purely to satisfy my crinkle cut fries needs.

My Sweater/jumper from Nasty Gal Check it out here
Right off the bat they gave us all a pair of Shake Shack sunglasses, so we were happy.
The burgers were good and the meat was yummy and such... I did really enjoy them.

The sauce made me pretty happy, I would say they were more a long the lines of In and Out Burger when you don't order off the secret menu.

The Fries were amazing, I love crinkle fries and they were crispy and salty.

Now Pump cheese is not my jam at all. I'm a bit perplexed by the amount pf pump cheese I have seen since I left BC.  Not just the UK but Ontario you do it too.
My cousin Spencer loves it but I can not wrap my head around it.

That being said I'm not huge on American Style restaurants having cheese fries... its not poutine its just pump cheese.

Pump cheese aside we had a great day.

And we loved the Sunglasses
